Starship Commander Darek of Laren had one mission, retrieve the outlaw Laaen and return him to his home planet for trial. On his world there are very strict non-interference laws that in most cases prevent his people from going to other worlds and influencing cultures less advanced than their own. However, some do choose to visit these worlds, and in some cases interefere. When they do so, punishment is always retrieval and death, of both themselves and often any family members particularly if the Larindon has intermarried with a native.
Upon reaching Earth Darek uses the internet to attempt location of the criminal. He is stunned to find not Laaen, but his daughter Angel. In addition Laaen and his Earther wife Serenity have disappeared seemingly without a trace.
Not certain what to do, Darek keeps tabs on Angel hoping to find answers. Instead he finds only more questions, as well as an ancient evil the people of Laren thought was eradicated forever. He discovers it has found a new home, Earth, and Laaen's daughter is at the center of the controversy. Thinking she has suffered enough, he vows to leave her and tell no one of her existence. However, an old lover finds out about Angel and turns the tables against the couple. Now both Angel and Darek are in a race against time to protect their newfound love, and both their worlds respectively.
