Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the very first issue of Regina’s Universe!
Yeah, I know egotistical of me to name it after myself
huh? And for me to think I deserve a whole UNIVERSE?
Well, why not? I think we all deserve our own
universes. So, there now you know I’m egotistical, and
crazy! Just kidding.

Actually it’s a pun on the fact that most of my
stories take place in alternate worlds, universes, you
get the picture. I’m sure those of you that know me
figured that out though.

I hope you all find some worthwhile information here,
I truly do. There will be articles, as well as,
featured books and covers. There is also another group
of ideas of the “to be determined” category. In
addition, I’m open to ideas. If you have an idea for
something to include in this newsletter, please do not
hesitate to contact me at
tiwatz@yahoo.com
That includes anything you’ve written that you know
would be useful and/or entertaining for the rest of
us. So, that being said let’s move on to the featured
article, “Marketing Your Book For Free”

o Marketing Your Book For Free
============================================================

I know what you’re thinking, something along the lines
of, “this woman is off her rocker!” I used to think
that too. Imagine my surprise when I began doing
research and discovered you actually can do quite a
bit of your marketing for free.

So, here are some ideas to get you started:

*Create a presence on the web. There are many ways to
do this, but having your own website to promote your
writing is the best way. There are lots of places that
have free webpages, but Bravenet.com has everything
you could ever want (webjournals, tell-a-friend
service, guestbook, mailing lists etc.) including free
hosting.

*Sign other author’s guestbooks. The author is not the
only one who reads the entries, and make sure you add
your website address even if they don’t give you a
spot to put it, put it beneath your name when you sign
your entry.

*Be a regular on message boards, answer newbie’s
questions, and don’t forget to add your signature with
your website. The important thing to remember here is
to pop in on a regular basis, otherwise it looks like
the only reason you’re there is advertise, and
participants won’t take you seriously.

*Join writers groups online and post, post, post!
That’s not to say you should inundate any group with
advertising e-mails about your book, but rather to
participate in the discussions. If you have a
signature line at the end of your e-mails this will do
your advertising for you.

*Speaking of signature lines, create one and add it to
all of your e-mails. This is one of my favorite
freebies. People do read signature lines and I have
actually ordered books because I found them via the
signature line.

*Give away free PDF (look for my next issue where I’ll
show you how to get PDF creation software for
free!)electronic versions of your book (not too many
now, just 2 or 3) in return for reviews. This has
worked very well for me, and I’ve gotten some good
reviews from doing this. Readers like free and are
usually more than willing to write a review in return.

*Trade electronic versions of your book with other
published authors and do a review for each other.

*Once you have reviews post them on your website and
anywhere else you can. There are many places to post
reviews for free. See if those that did them for you
will post for you as well.

o FEATURED BOOK REVIEW: All Things Sacred by Beverly
R. Jones
============================================================
Beverly R. Jones does with words what concert
musicians do with musical notes! ALL THINGS SACRED has
the kind of tight descriptive writing that I as a
fellow author dream about. Not one single word is
wasted in this story of a young woman who even though
she is on the run from a killer stops to help a total
stranger. In doing so she is hurt and loses her
memory, but that doesn’t stop the family of the woman
she assists from doing what they can to help her. Not
remembering that she was fleeing a killer Kendall
allows the Coley family to help her, especially the
handsome Jackson! But Jackson is torn by the building
feelings he’s having for Kendall, and believes they
come from two alternate worlds that can’t really
blend. The suspense builds as the killer finds her and
Kendall gradually begins to recover her memories. As
Kendall and Jackson work together to keep themselves
one step ahead of the killer, they become closer.
Things that were perceived to be obstacles begin to
disappear or get worked out. I loved these characters.
The relationships were realistic, and Ms. Jones made
me believe this story was real, that the characters
were real. I will buy anything with the name Beverly
R. Jones on it! This is a not-to-be-missed, keeper! If
you enjoy romance and suspense then Beverly R. Jones’
ALL THINGS SACRED is the book for you! Don’t miss this
one!
